THE MEETING

To the eye, the wine is clear and bright with a light colour. golden reflections.

The nose is round and complex, with lovely aromas of citrus, white fruit and flowers.

The palate is round, dense but harmonious and balanced with a lot of aromatic freshness, finesse of expression and persistence on the palate.

THE MOMENTS

Ideal for accompanying delicate dishes, Clos de Caille «Lucis» 2023 will enhance a scallop carpaccio, fish in sauce, white meats or mature cheeses.

TERROIR

Presence of silt, clay and silica on ancient limestones, shaped by the formation of the Alps. These silty-calcareous soils with high potential offer a perfect balance between the freshness provided by the significant silica content and the filtering capabilities of limestone.
Located at an altitude of 200 metres On the Triassic terrace, this unique terroir gives the wines concentration, freshness and elegant roundness. The soil diversity, between cool valleys with varying clay content and sunny terraces rich in dolomitic magnesium limestone, reinforces this harmonious balance.

BLENDING AND VINIFICATION

100% Roller aged in 5 hl French oak casks (light toasting)

Parcel-by-parcel vinification after selection of vines located on the terroirs with the highest potential at Clos. Manual harvesting in small crates, with careful sorting in the vineyard. The crates are emptied directly by gravity into a pneumatic press. Pressing (light pressure) is carried out in whole grapes with the production of clear juices low in sediment.

The juices are lightly settled during a few hours of cold storage and transferred to a vinification tank. When alcoholic fermentation begins, the juices are transferred to new 5-hectolitre French oak barrels (light toasting) carefully selected from trusted coopers.
Rearing lasts for a period of 8 months. with stirring regularly to resuspend the fine lees and bring roundness and complexity to the wine.

This exceptional white, the result of the unique characteristics of our terroir, is a tribute to the late Lucia Mariotti, Jean-Pierre's mother and a radiant woman who brilliantly embodied light («Lucis» in Latin) so essential to life.
Produced using traditional methods in our «Chai d'Œuvre» winery, Clos de Caille « Lucis »2023 is an ode to the light that accompanies our vines throughout their growing cycle in a unique microclimate, giving life to an exceptional vintage.
