Climate
Proximity to the Mediterranean Sea means Clos de Caille benefits from a unique bountiful climate..
- Autumn is marked by cooling temperatures and abundant rainfall. The latter are distinguished by a low frequency but a high intensity.
- Winter is often accompanied by the Mistral, a cold, dry wind from the northwest which is distinguished by violent gusts and sunny days. The seasonal omnipresence of the Mistral gives it a fundamental role in the originality of the Provençal climate. Winter cold spells, which can occur at the beginning of the vegetative cycle, are rarely frost-prone.
- Spring marks the return of a warm climate alternating between sunny and rainy days. The days are getting longer. It’s sleet season. The spring sunshine triggers the ripening of the grapes.
- Summer is characterized by warm temperatures and long sunny days. From mid-July, the stormy showers intensify, thus compensating for the frequent rainfall deficits of the previous months. The summer vigor perfects the ripening of the grapes until the harvest.
