Le Clos de Caille works with internationally renowned nurseryman Lilian Bérillon on massal selection.
Historically, the aim of massal selection is to obtain the best quality wine, with the most original aromas. When replanting a plot or replacing a dead vine, we carry out a massal selection of their young vines. With the expertise of our artisan winemakers, instead of choosing a vine bought from a traditional nursery, we carefully select the grafts by cutting a shoot from our most beautiful vines.
With controlled productivity, each vine produces a reduced quantity of grapes in order to give priority to the quality of the plant, the cornerstone of our vision.
Deteriorated vines are replaced to maintain the potential of our plots.
This complantation enables us to maintain the productive and qualitative potential of each plot.
In order to re-fertilise the soil, a rest period of two to three years is observed between uprooting and replanting.
